I have a set of metal, and my brother and regular player has a set of... well I'm not sure what stone it is, but its green.
They roll just fine, just be careful: they can chip and wear out if you use them a ton on really hard surfaces like a metal table. I think you'll be safe if you roll on the Battle mat or on your books / a dice tray.
