Stronger Skeletal monsters?

There are lot of good-looking skeletal metal/plastic minis. I really love them. So I want to maximize the use of those minis. Except for large skeletal things (say, troll skeleton or dracolich), how many medium-sized monsters are available for DnD 3e/3.5e?

Skeleton ................ CR 1/3
Baneguard (MF) .......... CR 2
Crypt Thing (FF) ........ CR 3
Huecuva (FF) .......... CR 3+
Lich .................... CR 13+

Any more?

If I were you, I'd just check out Games Workshop instead. Their miniatures are far far better IMO and as far as I can recall you can still order miniatures from them that are now discontinued in their retail stores.

I've got a load of their Tomb King stuff and not because I play WFB anymore. Those minis rock.

I think you missed the point, Darm.

He wants a list of useful, medium-sized skeletal undead / creatures so that he can use the minis he's already got, rather than buying some more...

There's my favorite--bone creature template from Book of Vile Darkness. The book actually left out the CR adjustment, but judging by the 5th level bone creature bugbear, I think it's +1 CR. (Weren't bugbears CR 1 in 3.0?)

(Whoops, missed the medium-size part)

Here's a few more:
Eye of Fear and Flame (BOVD, CR 8)
Deathshrieker (MM3, CR 15)
Death Knight template (MM2, CR +3)
effigy (MM2, CR 17)

Yes, I am looking for monster stats, not minis.

I actually have GW plastic skeletons, old Tomb Guardians, some old Wights (yes GW wights are armored skeletons), D&D chainmail skeletons (Dwarves and Orcs), some skeletons from Reaper, and older metal skeletons from Grenadier, Ral-Partha, Aoshima and such. I also have DDM soft plastic skeletons. GW's current Tomb King line is not my cup of tea. I largely prefer older models from them.

And, regarding Death Knights. Are they skeletal undeads? I have been thinking them to be more zombie like creatures.

Hmm. I guess they are kind of halfway skeletal. "A death knight's physical form is that of its decayed body. The face is a blackened skull covered with patches of rotting flesh, with two pinpoints of orange light in the eye sockets."

So if you've got a fully-armored skeleton, it'll work pretty well as a death knight, even though there's flesh under the armor.

Those templates are very useful (see also: Corpse Creature = Zombies and Corrupted Creature]. Yes, it's Challenge Rating +1 for the Corpse Creature template (as per FAQ) and Damage Resistance 5/bludgeoning (unofficial, but recommended); and it's Feats: As base creature; and Damage Resistance 5/slashing (unofficial, but recommended) for the Corpse Creature template.

Kind regards

P.S.: I had a great time as DM when my players made first contact with a skeleton (in fact a 5th level fighter with the Bone Creature template), that kept his feats and had a rest of Intelligence left in his hollow skull... :D *harrharrharr*

Isn't there a template for making any creature a skeleton in 3.5? Don't forget you can always use an advanced (more HD) version of a skeletal creature or even throw on some templates. Creatures with a slightly funky description and some different powers are terrific for confusing players.

Bone Creature template does the same trick, but it's better... :]

Kind regards
