Stupid Author Syndrome

I'll start:

There's this one guy who actually has the characters sail to the coast of a country which happens to be landlocked! How stupid is that? Though I will admit it has some of the coolest departures I've read - [Exit left, pursued by bear]. Unfortunately, after that the plot has to jump some 16 years before it restarts, and has an NPC called Time appear to announce it! Jeez!

Guess who?
Winters Tale by the bard himself :D

Hmmm, let's see...

The author has killed off nearly every major character at least once, only to have it turn out that they were never killed.

The Auld Grump

George R.R. Martin - A Song of Fire & Ice?

It's been awhile since I've reread the series, but I do recall being annoyed, very very very annoyed. :)

Here's a D&D group of writers who didn't think we'd notice (not necessarily stupid, but blatantly obvious). See if you can guess them:

D&D designer sets up his world so that the druids keep demon gates closed (Shanarra rip-off).

D&D designer calls his head barbarian god "Vatun" a direct ripoff of the Norse gods

D&D designer steals all the Finnish gods for his D&D campaign, but pretty much just uses the names.

D&D multiple scenario author calls his NPC's such original fantasy names as Jhil, Bahb, Jherry, Bartholomew, and Mykel.

The "Killing off major characters" one seems a lot like Glen Cook.
Raven (twice), Limper (twice), Catcher, Stormbringer, Lisa Daele (twice), Shifter
...

Sounds like Keith Baker; I don't think the druids of Eberron are keeping off demons insomuch as otherwordly aberrations, but it's close enough.

I'll say Ed Greenwood, based off of Loviator. It's been a while since I've peeked into Finnish mythology or the Forgotten Realms, though, so perhaps I'm off.
