stupid PC names

The worst name I've ever encountered was in my second session playing DnD, when one of my friends introduced his chaotic evil dwarven fighter: Murderkill Hacknslash.
That was the second session of that DM in that campaign setting.
It was also the last.
Coincidence?

Demiurge out.

I admit I have a fairly low tolerance for names meant to be silly. Goofiness as a change of pace can be nice. I'd never last in a campaign built around it.

I'm a little more lenient when the group takes aliases for some sneaky work. Somene taking Ming wasn't so bad. Mongo helped the player get more into his assumed role. Wizbang Fireblossom..well..at least I know the player won't have any problem with how NPC's will react to a alias like that.;)

2 words - "Ranger Rick"

I gamed with a DM that had to endure this one somthing like 17 times in a row. He finally forbid any one to use it. it was officially removed from the list of names!

In my earlier post I totally forgot to include "Ponce and Lance" the not-so-ambiguously gay paladins.... before the ambiguously gay duo was popularized on SNL.

A very nice fellow I used to game with had a running joke (across all planes, campaigns, settings, etc) that if he ever played a gnome, his surname would be Phesant. And he would have a real Oirish accent ("Top o'the mornin' to ye! Begorrah!").

But the worst bit was, the first names all ended in -ostus. So we had:
Gnostus
Bostus
Schlostus
Fostus
Mostus
Lostus etc etc etc

Luckily he was a great player, so his occasional gnomes weren't a problem.

The other two names of note that I shall always remember are:
Jodril of the Northern Bank
Earl Grey

ba dum dum crash.

there was a PC dwarf in oe of my games who had the racial minimun for the shortest dwarf race (somthing like 2' tall)
whose name I kid you not was Shlong Testeclese. I just took to calling him "tripod"

Gnomish swashbucklers, last names: De'Plume and De'Guirre

They were named by their uncle, who is in charge of naming gnomes: N. Clayture

So you have the Gnome De'Plume, the Gnome De'Guirre and Gnome N. Clayture.

shortly after 9/11 we ran a short game where the cleric was considering the name "Osamma" I told him that would probably go over just about as well as "Hittler"

Good grief!

In a campaign I had last year one of my players unvieled his nameing scheme for all his player characters. The idea was so stupid that I wanted to hit him.... he'd take the name of a celeberity and spell it backward.... that's how we got stuck with Ivoj Nob
