Styptic most useless spell ever?

I brought this up in the other thread on this spell, and pretty much got ignored, but I'll bring it up here too. In 3E cure spells stop dieing and stop the effects of wounding. It does not say anywhere, to the best of my searching ability, that cure spells stop all bleeding. The rules, as I read them, say that cure spells stop bleeding that could kill you (bleeding out when you reach negative HP or taking damage from a wounding item); but not minor bleeding.

It would appear that most folks assume that it stops all bleeding, and have house ruled it to do so. I guess that it makes for faster bookkeeping. I personally go by HP. If a cure spells heal you back up to full then minor bleeding is stopped too. If your still at half HP, your still bleeding... just not enough to affect HP.

Just my opinion...

If you don't stop bleeding, even from the tiniest of cuts, you will go into shock and die. You have a finite amount of blood.

Styptic is a poorly thought out spell. I like hemorrhage though.

Bah bah BAH!!!

i don't think anyone really noticed that it could ONLY be healed by a HEAL spell or Styptic....HOWEVER....i can't see too many level 3 clerics even fearing it *it's maximum damage being only 15*...

matter of factly, i wouldn't fear it, with my level 1 cleric, and beleive taking Doom would be more profitable than taking Hemorage...Not the most effective spell in my personal opinon, though possibly convinent for taking out those low level rogues and wizards...though a touch attack is stil required...meaning rogues might be out of the question...

"Duration: 2 rounds/level (maximum 5 rounds)"

Now, does Extend Spell make that

Duration: 4 rounds/level (maximum 5 rounds)
or
Duration: 4 rounds/level (maximum 10 rounds)

?

believe it would be 2/rounds per level (maximum 10)

and thats STILL only a maximum of 30 damage...and i can't imagine people using maximise on it...so thats not all that much damage indeed..., also the need to be level 10 to cast it, when you have better spells to use those metamagic feat spells.

Ah, but you don't Extend and Maximize it.

You 4 x Extend it.

So it lasts 25 rounds, doing an average of 50 damage, maximum of 75.

And since you're level 10, you cast two of them.

Admittedly, the Will Save DC sucks, and they can cure the damage normally. But it's continuing damage, so it forces Concentration checks on every spell cast for 25 rounds...
