Does anyone have experiences of pushing magic, planes and gods into the back ground? Not low magic, but magic that is feared and not seen in normal life?

Any ideas?

No direct experience but trying to do much the same thing in my game - thus far I've just flat disallowed all classes but rogue (it's a swashbuckling game) and I'll build magic as we need it, I guess.

Cool. How do you plan magic? NPC only? NPC blowing them selves up only?
