As always, I recommend asking down at your local retailer first. Support your FLGS!

If they don't have it and won't order it, try this:

Leisure Games in north London is my quasi-local FLGS and are very reliable, but £24+£2.40 p&p really seems too much, brilliant though it doubtless is. :) £18.99 or so would be more reasonable, given the US price. I'll check amazon, thanks Wulf.

OK, I just ordered it from a discount retailer via Amazon for £15.75 + £2.75 p&p, total £18.50. I would have been willing to pay up to £19 + similar p&p from my FLGS, that being a straight exchange-rate conversion of the US $35 standard retail price, but £26.50 was too much.

Well, I appreciate your interest.

Let me know how the book grabs you!

Boy, all this talk about Grim Tales makes me want to check it out. It sounds like some great stuff. I doubt my LGS will have it, but I have at least one place online that works as an FGS.

Who do you go to online?
For your RPG fix I mean.... :)

...If you are going to use Grim Tales for this, I wholeheartedly suggest that you buttress it with "martial arts" style feats either from OA or, better yet, any of the stuff from Vigilance (Blood and Fists, etc.)

That stuff from Vigilance would be perfect.

I typically use D20Books.com. I can buy books from anybody. But, Jeff is available online where I can IM him. I can tell him about needs that I am trying to fill and he will tell me what books are good for those niches. I can also ask him about his opinions on products and he will share them. I can tell him about my games and he can make suggestions. You know, all the good stuff that you get from a good Friendly Local Game Store.

Unfortunately, any of the Local Game Stores I walk into are poorly educated on the product and sometimes have trouble doing more than pointing me toward the shelf. Selection is haphazard at best, though they do have the firm rallying cry of "We can special order it". Sure they can, if you can provide the product number and probably the publisher as well. And it will usually arrive within two weeks. Then, if they kept good track of it, you might get a call that the product arrived. And, they might not sell it to anyone else that asks before you get to the store. *blech* Whatever happened to customer service? I get better customer service from a guy I can't see in another state.

Don't get me wrong, that is a good reflection on Jeff at D20Books. It's just a poor reflection on my experiences with my LGS.

This is not to say that other people don't have FLGS's. Nor is it to imply that D20books is the only online store that has good customer service. I have just had several good experiences with them over the past year and I am happy to keep doing business with them.

Heya NP--

Okelie dokelie and check-a-roonie. I had considered using Blood n Fists just forgot to mention it. Doh.

So the recipe is Grim Tales with OA / Rokugan for setting (mostly), EoM for magic (this might be a wrinkle), OA / Blood and Fists to get some chopsocky-ness and a touch of steamtech for weirdness (not just legions of naughty spawn but legions of STEAMPOWERED naughty spawn!). I might play around with splicing in some 4CtF too.

hey Wulf, ? about the ol' Grim Tales. I know the feats from pretty much any setting work, so maybe this question will answer itself. But considering it is more built from a deconstructed modern d20, would you continue to use the Improved Disarm, trip, and sunder as written there or in 3.5 dnd? The 3.5 versions having +4s to their attempts. Same goes for Power attack. Now, if this is just a wonky, whatever you feel like type question/answer scenario, then just let me know what you'd do for instance, not necessarily what is the absolute answer.
