Suggest a PRC for a druid

First Post
okay - I need the hivemind's help on this one. I have a player with a Wood Elf Druid 7. Stats are Str 20, Dex 20, Con 14, I 9, W 15, CH 10. She's awesome in combat and would like a PRC that takes advantage of that - preferably one with a BAB advancement of +1/each level.

We have access to all the splatbooks plus the FRCS but feel free to suggest any PRC from any other source including those of your own devising. Thanks.

Sadly, there are few set up for druids. There's the shifter, and the Blighter, but neither are going to be totally boss, since the Shifter would change your stats, and the Blighter isn't good (Though the concept rocks).

You need to up your Wis sometime soon, else you won't get access to 6th level spells.

Somewhere online -and I'm not sure where- I once saw a Prestige Class called "Nature's Defender." My quickie web search didn't find a working link, but it might be out there someplace.

The one you want is the Verdant Lord from Masters of the Wild.

For the cost of two virtually useless feats, it gives full spell progression AND +1 Bab per level.

Your wildshaping does not improve and I don't think the saves are as good as a normal druid's saves.

The upshot on the wildshaping is that you eventually gain the ability to turn into a Treant, which is a Huge creature with a 15' reach. That makes you really nasty in combat.

Also, you can survive on sunlight, get the Infusion creation feat for free, and eventually become a plant -- which gives a great deal of free immunities and powers.

Yes, a lot of people consider it somewhat overpowered. The loss of wildshaping REALLY hurts at epic levels, though, and the feats to qualify for the class will almost NEVER be used.

I'm surprised no one suggested the Elder Druid from the Shannara issue of Dragon Magazine.

Druid fire rocks baby! Plus you can extend your lifespan, get +1 spell progression per level, and you can temporarily make your melee weapon kick serious ass!

I thought the ED wasn't actually a druid PrC, despite the name.

d12: You ironically have what I would consider terrible stats for a druid. Great for an archer, but not necessarily for a druid. I might consider doing something as wacky as shifting over to fighter and having done with; you'll have good skills, access to 4th-level druid spells, an animal companion or companions, and monstrous fighting ability. (Actually, ranger might be a better idea, since IIRC, it's your favorite class.)

OTOH, having gone 7 levels as a druid already, I'd actually go the whole hog and just keep playing a straight druid all the way. Problem is, you'll need to boost your Wisdom somehow; take all your level-based stat boosts in Wis and get your hands on a Wis-boost item soon.

I'd have to agree with Verdant Lord.

If for some reason you don't like that one, maybe the Forest Master from Faiths and Pantheons is better. The requirements are a bit high (5 feats! plus some other stuff), and it keeps the druid's BAB, but it gets some very combat-oriented abilities. The Forest Master uses the maul as her weapon of choice, and she gains powers like barklike skin (natural armor bonus), temporary increases in strength and constitution, fast healing, that sort of thing.

But the skill and feat requirements are pretty high, so you have to begin aiming for it at early levels.

Well there's one Pr-class that might work for, but I don't know it would work outside this setting. The Renewers are kind of "barbaric" defender of the woods. They do some good fighting AND They also have a favored enemy they gain as part of their training. They still continue in spellcasting but only at every odd level. So you lose out there. But the Call upon Nature might work since you can still cast spells as you rage.
