It's not "realistic" but I try to pass it off with a "reasonable" explanation for exactly where the logic for these critters comes from.

At one time I seriously thought about having goblin fanatics in my campaign. These goblins would strap explosive belts to themsleves and then detonate themselves to inflict massive damage on enemies. This idea was partially inspired by MtG's Goblin Grenade card and Warcraft 2's goblins. However, after the latest intifetah, with Israeli citizens being murdered on a regular basis by palestinian suicide bombers, I decided against having goblin suicide bombers in my campaign. I figured it would be best to steer clear of the plot idea, as it might not be appropriate after the real life murder of several Isreali citizens.

I play a VERY lighthearted game, so Real Life comparisons would never come up. Important comment though, and thanx for making it. As a note I should draw though: Consider that none of these kobolds EVER intend to explode... they are not "suicide bombers." They eat the fruit because it's a drug that thier bodies rely on, and in turn thier blood becomes highly flamible, and reactive.

I was going to run a game where a country was being layed seige to by a more powerful neighbouring country. Unfortunately I, like shadow, was very much disturbed by the US and UKs seige of Iraq and the untold suffering and death that have been caused by that embargo on the civilian population that I decided to give up all forms of roleplaying and instead now resort to D20 chess.

it's a good idea.. one of my dm's has been using his own varient for years...

the Kamakazie Kobold... little bit more dangerous than those ones.. it blows op as a fireball (6d6)

and the hole race was like that.. they were just a little paranoid.. as a race the there were kobolds that breed faster.. and and have this shifty paranoid look to them.

on the first encounter.. we found out why.
