Summer Movie Fight Club: IDing the Elements?

Hand of Evil

Hero
Epic
Okay, the summer movies are hitting the screens and the question is which movie is the best, so how about a fight club to compare them.

All movies have elements that are common and some X factors (no pun) in them, so what are they? Lets come up with them and then have a match.

Common Elements:
  • ACTION - fight scenes, things that go BOOM
  • PACE - Does the movie move along without boring us
  • STORY / PLOT - Nuff said
  • ACTING - Nuff said
  • CHEAP SHOTS - Some people hate them, some people love them but they are in a movie to keep interest, yep, I am talking shower scenes, nudity, even cameo of stars or nods to shows

X-Factors
  • CASTING - A good cast can lift a movie from bad to good
  • FX - Special Effects, hate to say that they make or break a movie but...
  • FUN & COOL - Sometimes you just like a weak movie

So, again, what elements should be added or even deleted? I am thinking of using a rating system of -5 to +5 or just pick the winner.

First Fight Club starts Monday, 05.11.2009: X-Men Origins: Wolverine VS. Star Trek!

I didn't spot this thread first time around. For me, there needs to be "cool FX" and/or "action" and/or "sweeping vistas or picturesque settings" (the last might not be enough on its own) for it to warrant big screen viewing. Otherwise, it goes on the Netflix queue or gets DVR'd when it hits cable. I saw both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Star Trek but enjoyed ST a bit more.
