Summoner/Conjurer PrC's

Greetings all,

I'm looking at focusing my wizard on summoning/conjuring. I'm not a specialist (just couldn't give up the flexibility) but I'm wondering what sort of PrC's are out there for summoners. I've seen the R&R one, and it's decent, but would appreciate any suggestions, including home brew classes.

Well it all depends on what you want to summon. A favorite PrC of mine is the Demonologist in the "Encyclopaedia Arcane - Demonology" book by Mongoose Publishing. It makes summoning demons really fun (and not necessarily evil).

Mongoose Publishing's Encyclopaedia Arcane: Conjuration has four prestige classes that might be of interest:

Dragonchilde - gain draconic abilities over time, eventually become a dragon (this one's not particularly conjuration-focused)

Force Mage - focus on force magic, gaining improved versions of innate mage armor and the ability to add the force designator to attack spells

Soulbinder - focus on containment diagrams and summoning powerful outsiders to do your bidding

Spiritcaller - focus on summoning spirits and channeling spiritual energy

How about the old tried and tested approach of the Alienist?

The best I've seen is in Path of MAgic

PoM has two appropriate ones, but they strike me as a little odd (in the case of Arcane Negotiator) or strong (in the case of summoner, especially when used with sorcerers.) I think I would have to call the one in R&R better, if a little strong as well.
