Super Archers -- so what?

Should work just fine. Except that an arrow in a quiver of ehlonna is in an extra dimensional space and wouldn't be affected. How common those are will vary of course.

If a third level caster can take out a short spear, I think the bow itself would be a better target.

All I'm saying is a master archer who has put all his eggs in one basket can be crippled by a second level spell with a save of 13 to 16. Everybody keeps freaking out about how dangerous the archer is and I'm pointing out how much danger the ARCHER is in.

Ok, but s is the axe wielder guy who put all his eggs in that axe basket... wooden haft and all.

If the only point you are making is that its risky to be OVERspecializwd, then you get a resoundingDUH HUH from me.

However, since the archers i have seen were not the overspecialized 20th level guys with no other weapons and base will saves... this doesn't affect my observations at all.

Hey!! Waht about the greatsword only wielding barbarian when they meet a rust monster?

Any moron fighter running around with his BASE save deserves whatever's coming to him.

Warp Wood also has close range.

Anybody who plays a Druid with only a 13 Wisdom deserves the same. That is what the DC 13 minimum is based on.

Warp Wood has close range, yep. Close range is the same as or longer than the 30 feet requirement for Sneak Attack, Favored Enemy bonus damage, and Point Blank Shot.

Why only once or twice ever? Are druids that rare in your campaign?
(Actually, yeah they are fairly rare IMC, but that wasn't the point. :)) What I meant was that using the "warp wood" trick more than twice or so on the PC's bow is already to the point (IMO) of getting old real fast. I know that as a player, I'd be rolling my eyes pretty fast the third time it happened... "Oh look, yet another druid. Guess what's going to happen to my bow..." Just my opinion, of course.

I misunderstood, but I agree that after the first couple of times it would be pretty lame.

Course I'm sure word of this archer has gotten around and traveled a bit. Someone so good with something usually has word about them floating around. Not to mention people in the area will most likely know of said archer and their capabilities so if any "bad guys", or anyone in actuallity that would want to be ready in case they get out of hand, are looking for them or have any base of operations or anything around they will be sure to be prepared for said archer guy. Does it get old, sure but people will be ready and prepared especially if said archer is high level or extremely good at what he does.

For the love of Jerrot, please no more archer threads.

While I'm getting tired of them myself, it's my hope that WotC will notice them and take some action to tone them down in 3.5. So, they may do some good yet.

To reiterate what others have said, yes, there are counters for archers. There are counters for everything, really. But constantly countering the archer is just going to annoy the players. A better situation is for the archer to be balanced in the first place.
