super secret symbols and the cult of rpg(concerns us all)

maybe just a simple background with: I.R.P.G. ?

My local gaming shop has a bumper sticker section. I have bought none of them, but I would buy that if I saw it there!

Oh, my players got me a "Carpe DM" bumper sticker but I put in on my campaign binder.

I think we should come up with like, 10, simple "gamer" logos, and then vote as a community (using the poll option). Then, whatever wins, is the new "gamer symbol". We can spread it around as much as possible- to our groups, who can spread it to their friends, and their friends... and pretty soon there will be one unifying symbol, known only to RPers, recognizing us as one big unifying brotherhood/sisterhood of geekdom...

i have a guy a guy putting me together a quote right now for
"i r p g" on a golden rectangle and a dodecahedron silhouette, should have some prices by tuesday.

i am more than willing to sell them at cost if you folks think we can get something going here :)

How about on one of those Euros bumper stickers. The oval ones with different stuff. There are some sites out there that will make them.

No offense, but I don't like that idea. There's so many of those things out there that they've become completely meaningless. Plus (and Europeans correct me if I'm wrong), in Europe they actually use those stickers as part of their registration (although the newer plates have them abbreviations built in) so it might not work for our Euro friends.

depends on what "at cost" is. If it's too high, maybe we should look into some variety of bumper sticker for those of us too young to legally get a job, and too old to get an allowance. :D

I'll cast my vote for a d20 with no numbers . . . just an isocohedron as seen from above.

I'll also go with i.r.p.g. . . that can go anywhere, is unobtrusive, and is blatantly obvious when you know what your looking for.

However, I prefer geometric stuff to actual letters, as it is more mysterious-y, and works better at scaring away the 'normal people.'

I'm a fan of understatement. So just the D20 outline (although preferably with lines to hint at the faces rather than just a hexagonal outline) would do it for me. I wouldn't mind an IRPG logo around it, but I'd more prefer IRPG to be a plain sticker, black text on a white background, so as to be one of those things you only notice if you're looking for it.

But at the same time, there will never be a universal gamer logo. D20 is the flavor for our brand of gaming, but what about D6 or D10 based game fans? If you want to be inclusive (well, at least inclusive for geeky gaming fans; the others will hate it no matter what), I'd reccomend outlines for a D4, a D6, a D8, D10, D12, and a D20, all with lighter lines to indicate dice faces. Should be pretty universal, clear, (what other hobbies are so fond of funky polyhedrons), non-ostentatious, and just intriguing enough to attract the curious.

But there is nothing so universally understood as spinning d10s. Seriously, few people play -only- d6, every other RPG uses d10s either exclusively (Storyteller, L5R/7th Sea, Universal...) or with other dice.

So that, and just a plain I.R.P.G. logo will do :-)

It could (and should) be something simple. Perhaps a d20? Or the elusive d12?

I really think the a die would be best. But we should totally do this.

If you want a symbol that includes the gaming community, I would stay away from anything connotating "d20".

Unfortunately, I'd need to buy an SUV just to have enough sticker space for the Storyteller dice pools to fit.
