Superhero D20?

Maybe you should try and invest more money into 2- or 3-day shipping & handling service. Or better yet, find another mail order business, one whose distribution warehouse is much more closer to your area.

Okay, here's a crazy question for all you crazy cats.

I THINK MnM would rock as the basis of wuxia-style game. I mean, characters in movies like Swordsman II are basically superheroes, right?

Is that a fact? I haven't got the book (though the copy in my FLGS has received enough of my drool to count as a health hazard) but I would definitely plunk down the smackers if I thought I could pull that off.

Thoughts?

And, on an entirely unrelated point, how much of the book is OGC?

I think this would work like a charm.

I've been kicking around the idea of doing Exalted using the M&M Ruleset, as I really like the setting Exalted has developed, but bristle at rolling 30+ dice per action and spending several hours on a combat.

I'm certain you could do it. I'm even more certain that it would be simple.

My first conversions for playtesting were Feng Shui characters - most definitely a wuxia-style game. Gaming-wise, wuxia is basically supers with a particular descriptive style, so it should work. You'll want to get fairly creative with the character building system to make sure all the characters are suitably unique, but it can be done.

If you want to use MnM for a wuxia genre game, go ahead.

If you want to use MnM for a fantasy game, go ahead.

Of course, as a GM, I would limit certain powers and ranks. After all, there are powers that absolutely scream "superhero!"

But as a rules system toolkit, it's a GM's dream (as well as game designers and publishers).

Almost everything except the description of power points, certain iconic characters, organization, and settings.

Trust me, once you get your book, the legal notice will tell you which is which.

MnM doesn't handle tiered power sets well. It'd work well for creating, say, a fast swordfighter who can fly or jump really far. But if you want to add in a few master techniques that are better than the character's normal moves, then problems start to show up. Either the character's over all abilities are reduced to below PL and a heavily limited ability is added, or the character uses Extra Effort in a certain way - which isn't really an actual technique.

For that, I'd go with BESM D20, or, if you're willing to go non-D20(trust me, it's a super easy game), use Thrash; it's a free RPG you can find on the net, meant to emulate anime/fighting games, and my players really love it.

I have to agree with Billy. I have never been more please with a gaming series than I have been with M&M. Its a fantastic series and a great game system. It did take me about a week to really get all the nuances of power creation, but now I can create virtually anything. I got involved in a PBP game as quickly as I could.
