Are you going to peg Supers20 to a specific comic book era, or are you going to try to make it as era-neutral as possible?

What would be the advantage of this system over one like Mutants & Masterminds?

If you want something that cleaves to more of the traditional d20 tropes (classes, not point based character gen) then you want Supers20.

Whether that's an advantage or not is a matter of taste. For myself obviously, I prefer simpler character generation, as long as a high degree of flexibility is maintained.
