Pathfinder 1E Supplements to use with Pathfinder

Wow, that's a tricky one, especially as I don't know exactly what's included in the (Pathfinder) corebook. It's a honkin' great book; this much I know. :)

But anyway, you can't go wrong with your first two there, Betote. I'll second Hot Pursuit* (and its little brother), but that depends on what's in the core, like I said. And what might be conspicuously absent, of course.

Ultimate Toolbox, though freakishly awesome, lacks 'crunch' in the usual sense, so cannot be recommended here.

I'd also be tempted with something like the Advanced Bestiary and/or Deluxe Book of Templates, for they rock mightily, yea, even when toast is not forthcoming.

But I really do need to see the book (well, um, read the book) before knowing for sure.

edit --- * . . . which seems to be for sale still, at lulu.com - that so?

Well, I think the "always on" caster is already covered with the at-will cantrips of Pathfinder (a so simple solution I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me before). But maybe a few strange magic would make the cut for a NPC. How's Tome of Magic?

ToM has GREAT flavor, but relatively weaker than core caster classes and not so great mechanics IMO. Binders look like tons of fun with instant crazy roleplaying hooks for a player but not quite the pacting for true power you'd expect mechanically for D&D. I don't like the skill roll and doubling CR target number mechanic or much of the actual powers of the truespeaker but True Speech is a great concept to mine for story and flavor ideas. Shadow magic looks like it should just be folded into arcane spell casting.

I would want warlocks for the non vancian magic aspect, even though they are weaker IMO than core casters. No resource tracking is a big playstyle plus for me and an option I'd want for magical character classes. Also at will cantrips doing a short range ray for d3 is not the equivalent of a warlock's arcane blast that goes up with levels.

After reading PFRPG's table of contents, I feel like I'd want at least these things:

* A book on strongholds, domains and mass combat rules.
* A book on terrain, hazards and traps (specially the first two).
* "Spicy crunch" books, on Feats, equipment and spells (I'd love something similar to 4e's rituals, for instance).

I don't want/need setting books, as I have more than enough with Golarion, Eberron and Ravenloft ;)

Also, I have AEG's Toolbox. Is Ultimate Toolbox worth it?
