D&D 5E Sure is quiet on the 5e front

I thought we were supposed to get a couple or races or something ? It's been a couple months since the last release and that was just the barbarian.... any info on anything new? It's been a while.

Let's see, late May, early August, late October, late December. Seems like every three months is the goal. So end of March.
It's not late yet, and even then the second package was two weeks late. Lotsa time.

I don't recall them ever promising to release any new races outside of the next packet.

We also have PAXEast next weekend (with an entire weekend of playtesting game tables running)... so they probably figured it was better to not put out a packet with new changes that all the DMs running games would have little time to acclimate to.

My opinion is that the whole process is taking too long. I am sort of checked out until we get something substantially new (e.g. advanced tactical rules). A new class or race or two won't take my interest away from 4e for too long.

But that is fine. I am excited about 5e but I have 4e and other games to occupy my time for now.

They did, they said they would have a couple of small updates before the next big one, that never happened.

WotC is terrible at communicating, especially with updates. I think it's the layers of bureaucracy and management. Too many approvals needed for anything to happen remotely timely.

WOTC is also using 5E in the encounters this season so they might wait till that is done to update.
