Surrounded

Two things I thought of and mentioned but was reluctant to mention because the GM reads these posts.

We're surrounded by four dragons and out numbered by the goons that I forgot to mention in my original write up. One of the Players (guy that plays Jack) mentioned that the GM had said something about Treants. He figured that they would pop in during the fight and save our asses.

The other thing was- I thought right up 'til yesterday, just before we started gaming that- "three of the dragons are illusions," as Sharwyn- the wizard bad guy- um, bad girl has used them before. I was wrong of course, but I would not have pushed it past the GM at all, as he's sneaky like that. :p

In any case we made it through, got a MW Short Spear and a few scrolls for our troubles- oh, and their was some empty scrolls, and potion vials too. Not a single coin, or even arrows worth taking to replace those my character fired.

Well thanks again all, your comments helped.

Oy vey. I hope you're getting a lot of satisfaction of the the game, because on a game-mechanical level you are being shortchanged by a factor of, umm, a lot. The default D&D rules assume a certain level of treasure and magic which your DM is not even coming close to providing. Meaning that combats are going to become increasingly lopsided until they verge into impossibility.

Not sure but I am hoping that the end will have a lot of treasure.

As I mentioned before I had to purchase my first magic weapon and that wiped out all of my coinage.

As far as getting satisfaction- sort of, I know how he GMs and we're coming near the end of a long time running story line, so the last five minutes should be good.

(Course if you have been reading my posts you know how frustrated I have been in the past few campaigns.)

Exchange items quickly so everyone has something from each of the others

Summon creatures to attack/distract the dragons

Polymorph/shapechange/etc

Swim/burrow to escape

Have survivors use items from others to recover portions of the fallen for rez spells

As it turned out we fought and it was discovered quite quickly that the huge dragons were actually polymorphed crocidiles. We came close to lossing no fewer then 2 party members, but lost no one.

Exchanging items would have done us little good for ressurrection spells- which I assume is what you meant by rez spells. The group is fairly broke (less then a 1000 gp among the 4 PCs) and any dead will not be coming back unless we find enough loot to do so.

We had no access to Polymorph or Shapechanging except for our Druid who can Wild Shape. Burrowing was an option only in that its not something that black dragons can do (to my knowledge), and swimming is something they like to do which would have been a bad idea as the Huge Blacks were actually Crocs and they love to swim.

I do thank you for your time, it was very nice of you to offer. :)

Glad you made it out alive. :D

(The items were to assist in locating the bodies (or parts thereof), not for the actual rezzing...) ;)
