If there is another setting this year, I doubt it will be for MtG, Ikoria is really cool, but way too new without the build up of lore that Theros, Ravnica, Zendikar, Innistrad, or Dominara has. Plus if there is another none traditional D&D setting this year, the Grognards might riot. 😂

They aren't limited to Magic Settings: Eberron and Wildemount show that. I'd say Planescape seems plausible based on what they've been laying down. Zendikar wouldn't be improbable, expanding on the small original article.

Moving forward, mixing up new Settings, Classic Settings and Magic Settings seems a good strategy.

Hmm ... ordinarily I'd say that means they won't do Innistrad because there's too much overlap, but you know, there was that tweet a while back saying "If you liked Curse of Strahd, you'll love what's coming in 2020."

I kind of took that as meaning that there would be darker, more horror themes in the upcoming Adventure book (it was Perkins who tweeted it, and he's an adventure writer mostly), but hey maybe it could be coming!

There isn't really that much overlap, other than Gothic horror as a thematic focus. Easily more different than Greyhawk and the Forgotten Realms. Innistrad is a normal Material Plane, albeit one with an oppressive level of classic movie monsters and various Gothic tropes in force.

I've been disappointed with the D&D setting received. So far, we have an Eberron book (nice) and bits and pieces of the Forgotten Realms (distorted presentation). Other settings included some dudes house rules (WTF?) and and two MtG worlds (and WTF?).

D&D has so many great, unique settings read to be updated (Planescape, Spelljammer, Dark Sun, etc.). Instead, Wizards has decided to taint the brand with MtG grease and the magical sprinkles of some dude's YouTube stardom.

Call me disappointed. Let D&D be D&D. Or they should stop sitting on their IP like pigs sitting on a gold crown.

Zendikar Rising is coming too late in the year, so while I agree that Zendikar is going to get a hardcover Campaign Setting book, it won't be until 2021, because like with Theros they will want to include content from the latest deck. Ravnica's shouldn't have come out until after War of the Spark IMHO.

It's classic settings turn, but MtG will get more campaign setting books in 2021, with Zendikar at least.

The Wildemount sourcebook was by far the best of the campaign setting books for 5e we've gotten though.

Ravnica wasn't that bad it has potential, and Theros is looking like it will be amazing and I have heard nothing but good from none critical role fans that got the critical role book and honestly most official D&D settings started out as somebody's homebrew setting, but evolved beyond that.

I do agree that FR could have been handled better, it still needs a FRCG style book, and proper detailed maps of Faerun and. It would be nice to have 5e resources for other parts of FR too. And E: RftLW was a well done book.

Still if it makes you feel better I honestly believe any other setting released in 2020 will be for a traditional, classic D&D setting, either a proper campaign guide for the Forgotten Realms but with a 5e spin, or say Planescape or some other D&D traditional setting. I'm betting on FR finally getting it's FRCG 5e equivilant, which is good for other settings, because A-side for video game tie ins, it will be a sign they are going to start moving on to other traditional D&D settings more.

One thing I wonder is when Mythic Odyssey's of Theros comes out, will they have a Adventurer's League for MtG settings like they do for FR and Eberron?
