Okay, there're other threads about Encounters Season 2 discussing this but I figured it was a mechanic that deserved its own thread.
Frankly, I think the idea of abstracting food and water supplies into a single 'crunchy' unit is great.
A problem I hear is that Encounters allows you to spend minor actions to acquire 'survival days' from a wagon. The other problem is that the Free RPG Day adventure 'Bloodsand Arena' doesn't tell you how many survival days the characters start with or where players get them.
Simply put, WotC's pre-release material so far has spent more time blathering about mechanics you can opt out of such as 'arcane defiling' and 'weapon breakage' than such a crucial one as survival days. What's up with that?
So what are your thoughts on survival days?
Can someone explain to me where PCs are supposed to get them outside of the scenario presented in Fury of the Wastewalker? How many do players in Bloodsand Arena start with?
