Nearly upvoted the Dragonborn, but while I love the concept I do not like the mechanical Implementation in 5E. The Human is superb. The normal Version is great for Newcomers, because it's extremly easy and you cannot do anything wrong and the Variant is great for crunch-lovers!

I downvoted Gnome simply because I love the Idea of Tinker Gnomes but I find that their implementations is a slap to the face (absolutly useless unique feature).

I always seem to like playing lizard/dragon type characters in games, so that follows through here as well. And I don't necessarily dislike the Gnomes, but they just don't fit my personal tastes.

Me too. I was like "a GNOME? With pointy hat?" Until one player decided to try something "out of the box" and created a gnome character in 5E. Interestingly the gnome blends in quite well as the team's bard. In fact it suits our Karameikos world too (He is from Highforge btw)
