SW d20, NJO: re-writing some disease rules -- help me, please?

I've infected one of my players in our New Jedi Order game with the coomb spore disease (the same one Mara had), but I don't like the writeup on it in the book -- it's far to easy for a 10th-level character to overcome, not to mention the fact they made it too mundane. Can anyone help me come up with something both nastier and more fitting to the source material? Here's what I've got so far: Damage remains 1d2 con and dex, but is now cumulative. (all temp, fortunately -- I'm not that mean). The initial first-day save is at DC 20, with no use of Force Points allowed (it is from outside the Force, after all). The symptoms don't arise until the infected person is under duress -- if they're at peace or doing something they like, they're less apt to feel them (this is how it was for Mara if she was with Luke or something of that sort). The save must be made anew each day, and if failed, the damage compiles. For each failed save, the DC goes up by 1. When a save is made, all damage to date fades and the infected person does not feel the disease or its effects for 1d4 days. After that, it attempts to reemerge, and the cycle begins anew with a save at DC 20.

How 'bout this:

Have you considered making it communicable? A 10th level Jedi may be able to shake it off, or hold it at bay (btw - how's it not nasty if you can't get rid of it?), but if it spread throughout the community, eventually it would affect people who didn't have the means to make the daily save that seems to be required.
