Swashbuckling Adventures (D20 7th Sea)

Ugh! Swashbuckling Adventures just seems incomplete without the sorcerous types. I was very much hoping Magic of Theah would be the next item out of the gate.

Also, does that mean that there will be no sorte/porte/whathaveyou villians in the hero Monster & Villian book?

Actually there are some... And although fully compatible, only the rules needed for the character are presented.

Should Swashbuckling Adventures go into second printing, would you be able to clean up the editing problem before it hit the printers again?

I'm curious about this as well, 7th Sea looks like such a vibrant setting (always loved L5R), and i'm a bit disappointed that it didn't get the full treatment like Rokugan. Still, i've ordered the book, but am a bit hesitant about using it as an introduction to the 7th Sea setting. As some one wise said "A dead body doesn't smell any better the second time around.", meaning that if new introducees fall over the bad editing (game mechanic wise and textual wise), it won't be any better when there is an updated 2nd printing.

Also, if the book sells out of it's first printing, AEG would have little motivation to revise the second printing, because it doesn't need to be revised to sell. Therefore i think that it all depends on fans for spotting the mistakes and hoping that AEG will do something with it...

I'm not really very interested in the 7th Sea setting. However, I would be interested in the mechanical side of the book and the possibility to use it as a tool to prepare my own swashbuckling campaign. How this book would stand in this regard?

I think it works pretty well as a swashbuckling toolkit. There are a few (three) prestige classes which don't really work outside of the 7th Sea setting, but that's about it.)

As a side note, I was browsing the feat section and couldn't help but notice the Princess Bride influence. Giant? Check. Six-fngered man? Check. years spent building up an immunity to iocane powder? Check.

Glad to hear that. I will put this one in the queue of my shopping list. How magic works in the 7h Sea setting? D&D standard magic rules wouldn't fit the setting, so I guess AEG will provide some alternative magic rules.

By the way, the Princess Bride characters are also a nice touch. :)

But Horacio my dear man, the frence aren't known for their english skills, their known for drinking large quantities of wine at lunch. And with a bottle of wine even an old hag will look like a cutie...

Just joking Horacio ;-p

I'm hoping that the 'bad' editing isn't so 'bad'...

I don't think it's quite as bad as Kaptain Kantrip makes it out to be - after a few readthroughs, I've spotted several typos, but only one mistake (at least I hope it's a mistake) that actually affects gameplay.

(If you're curious - the double scimitar prestige class gains some nifty bonuses from having a high perform (dancing) skill - one of them is the ability to, for one attack, add their ranks in perform to the crit multiplier for their weapon - so if a tenth level character maxes out his perform, we're talking about a crit multiplier of 16 or so! It gets better if the character has any levels of assassin.)

EDIT - for some reason, every post I've made on this thread has been full of typos!
