Swearing in a game

I can count on one hand the number of swearwords I have uttered in my entire life. I don't have a problem with other people swearing, but it doesn't tend to happen in our small group of cultured and refined limb-splitting, blood-spattered adventurers. Two of them speak French, though, and out-of-game they can be a little vile on occasion (they say French sailors are the vilest mouths to roam the Earth, and I believe them).

No swearing until 9pm, when our host's four year old goes to bed, then we are known to bump up the golly gee's to gosh darn's or sometimes even stronger.

One of my players coined the oath, "Bane's codpiece!" for his PC. It seems to be a general expression of frustration or shock. If his paladin ever says it in front of a Banite, someone's gonna have to die.

buttercup is playing a sun priestess in my tuesday night game and she has run a whole list of "balcla" curses by us. it has been fantastic, i think it has really added something special to her character and our game

Balcla's painful rectum! What are you talking about?

So as a DM I usually keep it clean, but as a player I can't help but want to blurt out explitives every time we get taken by a merchant or beaten down by a one-armed goblin. I also hate losing levels, that just seems to boil my blood quicker than anything else.

Well, swearing with my group usually occurs out-of-game, in a fashion like this:

Angcuru: Alright, I stab it it the arse with my sword.

Blackshirt5: Sorta like last night when I was stabbing Ron's sister's arse....AAAAAAARG! I GOTTA stop doing that!

Vechs v.3.0: THAT'S 5 times so far tonight!

Rakeron: Jeremy.....

Angcuru: Yeah?

Rakeron: Hand me that sword hanging on the wall there.

Angcuru: Which one?

Rakeron: The bastard sword with the nordic carvings.

Angcuru: Nah, too messy. Just chuck your pewter dice at him.

Blackshirt5: Yeah, well his sister was checking out MY dice last night... DEAR LORD NO! *Holds up DMG in front of face*

I almpost constantly swear in both my regualar everyday conversation, and when gaming.

I've been told it's the sign of an uncreative mind, but I disagree. You should hear how creative I get when I'm on a "bad rolls" night

We might behave differently, were children around, but we're a bunch of 20something guys. We try to keep it inventive. Just randomly F__ing all over the place is gonna get shrugs and sighs, but if you keep it creative and interesting, it's respectable.
