This came up in our session yesterday afternoon...
Our 12th level dwarf fighter has a special throwing hammer weapon which he uses for both melee and missile attacks. During his full-attack action, he used the hammer as a melee weapon and killed his opponent on his first attack, and then cleaved-through (using the Cleave Feat) to the next guy and ended up killing that guy, too (both were already pretty damaged). For his second attack, he wanted to throw his hammer at another opponent who not with melee range.
The DM was not sure if this switching of weapon uses (from melee to missile) should be allowed during the same round. We couldn't find anything in the PH or DMG that said that you could or couldn't do this, and I didn't see it in the FAQ (although I'm at work and haven't had time to scour through it).
Anyone deal with this before?
