Pathfinder 1E Sword of Valor, Wrath of the Righteous AP Part 2 with your hosts Scotley and MLeibrock

[sblock=Meliara]

You feel compelled to tell Faxon the truth - in part because of the Zone of Truth spell active in this room, but also in part because you get the feeling you are in real danger of dying and know you will have a better chance of surviving if you can just get to the rest of your group. However you will is strong and you know you still retain your free speech. [/sblock]

[sblock] Can you please clarify this for me? Is Lia compelled to speak the truth under the effects of the spell or does she have free speech... Aka do I HAVE to tell the truth or do I just want to? [/sblock]

OOC - You feel the spell compelling you to tell the truth. However, your will save was high enough you have freewill to do whatever you like.

[INDENT=]Vakeva stirs at Randlay's question, shifting his posture slightly as he leans against the wall but content to wait for now. If his years ferrying fugitives and would be adventurers back and forth across the borders had taught him anything, it was that acting precipitously was often worse than not acting at all.[/INDENT]

OOC: [MENTION=29558]Mowgli[/MENTION] Randlay did not ask a question out loud. No quotation marks, no colour. He might now even have thunk it explicitly. It was just a device to describe his reaction.

[sblock=My Bad, Kaodi]Was looking for a hook on which to hang a post for Vakeva. I remembered Randlay reacting but was too lazy to go back and check if he'd actually spoken.[/sblock]

OOC: Just to respond to Thorn's post, as I went back, the only doors present (that we know of) are the door to the outside and the door in the wall dividing the downstairs. So not only is there not really a door to try the lock on, there is no door to block sound. Is this accurate?

OOC: Okay, trying to put a little clarity to things...

Most of you are on the ground floor of a tower with the upper floor toppled away. The room you are in is open to the sky and there is one door to the outside which is closed and barred from the inside, so you could remove the bar easily. The walls are 10-12 feet high making it fairly easy to get out that way as well. There are three cultists in the room with you. There is also a stairway leading down near the opposite side from the door. There is no door on the stairway at either the top or the bottom.

Downstairs there are two rooms. One of these, at the bottom of the stairs with a desk, you all entered. It takes up about half the space of the room upstairs. There is a door from this room though which Faxon entered. After some discussion everyone but Meliara went back upstairs. No one else knows anything more about what is happening downstairs though Thorn is lurking as close as possible to the stairs and has heard no signs of distress or trouble from below though visibility is limited to a narrow strip near the bottom of the stairs.

Downstairs Meliara knows Faxon unsuccessfully attempt to charm her then Faxon unlocked and went through the door. Meliara followed, just barely entering the room with altar where she resisted an in place zone of truth spell though she senses there may be more unpleasant magic afoot. Faxon is not near the door. He has cast another spell which Meliara was unable to identify, but it does not appear to have been directed at her. Again Faxon is not near the door and Meliara did not see him approach the door or attempt to close it; however,...(see next post)

Perception check please.

[sblock=DC12]The door swung shut behind you slowly and softly.[/sblock]

[sblock=DC21]The lock clicked as the door closed.[/sblock]

[sblock=DC30]There is a small scorpion on the wall just above the door who closed the door. The scorpion is lurking on the wall in the shadows near the ceiling.[/sblock]

Denir sees that his attempts at extracting any useful information from the cultists through small talk don't seem to be getting any where. He wanders around the room for a moment pausing next to Keva where he whispers to him "Make sure you have the door and the stairs covered".

Denir then wanders over to the door to the outside, he turns and looks to the opposite wall and heads to it. Looking back to make sure that anyone opening the door sees that wall, he takes out a knife and begins to scratch out a large triangle on the stone wall.

[sblock=Meliara] "Celebrating something?" The tone of his voice immediately gains an ominous tone as soon as he says these words and a feeling of 'I'm in over my head' quickly washes over you. "Could be... I guess that depends on you. You see, you have a choice now. I'm going to kill the members of your little group. Cultists they obviously are not so I have no use for them. But you I might have some use for yet. So the celebration can be solely yours if you tell me why you all are here."

The adrenaline begins to flow through your veins and as your senses are heightened, you notice Faxon's lips and hands move in a way a spellcaster does. You see no resulting spell though. [/sblock]

[sblock=Meliara only] Perception check please. [/sblock]

Downstairs [sblock] Perception Check (1d20=4) My (online) dice are cursed!!! lol

She grins as she walks slowly around the room, taking in all the details while trying not to get overwhelmed by the vileness. "Of COURSE they are not cultists, that should have been obvious from the moment you saw them. They believe that, like them, I am here to fight the powers of evil,” she chuckles, “But do not know the real reason I joined their little troop of do-gooders. Clearly they are all idiots, particularly the one in that horrendously loud armor. He fashions himself a paladin but did not for a moment question my motives. I imagine his god has long abandoned him.

As clever as I know I am, I could not take all of them by myself, so I thought bringing them here would be best, a gift for our leader so to speak. I prompted them to come to this hideout and prodded them to try to empty it, to defeat you. Like they would have a chance. They were very easy to convince, with all their righteousness and plans to rid the world of anyone wicked in heart."

Meliara stops near the altar but is still trying to stay out of reach of Faxon. She cautiously turns her back to him and pretends to be looking over the table, running her fingers over the weapons there. While doing this she leans her head forward, her hair covering her face as she quietly casts message to her comrades as inconspicuously as she can.

She slowly turns back to face Faxon, one of the long, sharp blades in her hand, “I can only hope that you have a generous nature and will let me HELP you in your plan to sacrifice them. I would like nothing more to send for them and begin NOW.

I have grown quite weary of their blathering. And it's quite an exhilarating feeling, to rid the world of these peasants, do you not agree?“
she says looking up at him with big, wide eyes, touching the sharp point of the dagger to the tip of one of her fingers, “After that, well, what exactly is it I can help you with? What use might you have for me?”

OOC: This is what the party hears in the message: “I can only hope that you have a generous nature and will let me HELP you in your plan to sacrifice them. I would like nothing more to send for them and begin NOW. With a lot of emphasis on the HELP and the NOW. :D
