Did I just fall for the oldest trick in the book, or what?[/sblock]

After rousing everyone, Lia gathers with everyone in the middle of camp. "We probably should send out a few scouts in the other directions, to be safe. No?"

Meliara casts mage armor on herself. She had a feeling this was going to be... something. It had seemed too easy up until this point. Plus it never hurt.

OOC: Darkvision: Aasimar have darkvision 60 ft. (they can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.

Thorn nodded.

"Definitely. I'd like to go to the scream. Even if it's a diversion, it might reveal something about what did it."

Assuming there's no dissent on the point, she heads off in that direction.

Banaq, N/G Elf Sorcerer L6 Archmage T1

"Well I'm not going anywhere right now, I'm gonna have me some hot chocolate and wait for my air elemental messenger to return with news of what's going on out there. He should be back just very soon now."

Banaq summons an air elemental and soon it is flying out into the woods to locate the disturbance.

'Keva slips from his bedroll at the first sound of screams, taking up Raivo and his quiver and moving quickly toward the sounds. - [sblock=OOC] Mike, the scream woke Keva from a dead sleep but since that, there has been no more screams so he isn't sure exactly where to go. I'll give you a perception roll to head off in the right direction. [/sblock]

Meliara casts mage armor on herself and suggest sending scouts off in several directions to investigate.

Randlay, as much as his first instinct is to go with Sheldon, figures that the most sound course of action for him in the moment is to keep an eye on the direction the screaming did not come from. Diversion being the oldest trick in the book... So he keeps an eye on the direction Sheldon does not go out in.

Thorn wants to go to the scream as well but again is unsure where exactly that is - [sblock=OOC] I'll also give you a perception roll since this was you and Keva's first thought and didn't think too much about it - you are both working on instinct. [/sblock]

Keva and Thorn both head off in the same direction though Keva waits for no man (or woman) and is a couple hundred feet ahead. Both are headed in the same general direction that Sheldon also headed. Soon Keva and Thorn come across blood smatterings on the area's fauna. Sheldon is a hundred paces to the north of Thorn and Keva.

Back at camp the elemental Banaq sent out returns with new information: There is a Kithangian out there, it looks to be half horse and half scorpion, with slavering humanoid faces peer from between its two pincers. It killed the soldier.
