What could possibly go wrong with Elric of Melniboné adventuring alongside Taran, Gurgi,
What could possibly go wrong with Elric of Melniboné adventuring alongside Taran, Gurgi, and Eilonwy?
I believe Elric could go wrong, and I would like to lock my answer in.

My only advice for Chronicles of Prydain is to burn the last book (High King) before you accidentally experience one of the worst endings ever.

Looking for something else, I stumbled on this quote from Spriggan’s Den “And of course when this question comes up, my first thought is always “Would this work well in a Sword & Sorcery style?” And I think with Dragonbane the answer is very much yes. If you do the presentation right, the default rules of Dragonbane should work effortlessly with almost any Sword & Sorcery setting.”
Is this a good assessment ? Is Dragonsbane able to work that well with Swords & Sorcery?

I use Hyperborea and just downplay the Sci_Fi elements.

Swords and Chaos looks good too! It uses the Castles and Crusades' SIEGE engine

As for new ones, this one just got Kickstarted!

I play/run Dungeon Crawl Classics with a thematic mix with Astonishing Sorcerers and Swordsmen of Hyperboria. One of my favorite things about ASSH is the way all wizards are specialists with their own unique spell lists, which is very much the way I think sorcery should work in a fantasy setting.

Back in 2015 there was an excellent setting called Primeval Thule, which was converted to 5e, Swords & Wizardry, and a couple of other systems. Its premise was "Conan meets Cthulhu" and it mostly delivered, despite its lack of hot deserts. The last 5e campaigns I ran combined that setting with Xoth, mentioned above.

Swords & Chaos looks really interesting
  • Procedures for wilderness and dungeon exploration!
  • Procedures for random encounters, morale, hirelings, and followers!
I wonder how evocative the procedural generation is of Sword & Sorcery?
I have the Barbarians of Lemuria (standard) Mythic edition. I need to move it up my reading list and read it soon.

I backed Tales of Argosa (Low Fantasy Gaming 2e), recently got a mail saying it'll be shipping soon and I'm really excited for it! there's a free public playtest which is pretty complete.

while DCC gives me the immediate rush and crazy adventures, this feels much more grounded and gritty, I like the exploits and the flexibility (and it has Foundry support which means I'm much more likely to run it).
I love the inclusion of cards and dice to give ideas and answer questions (and there are free online versions so you don't have to but them)

I haven't run or played these, but both Barbarians of Lemuria and Everywhen with Sword & Sorcery Codex (it is designed for both), Savage Worlds w/ Savage Lankhmar, and Savage Worlds w/ Beast & Barbarians all have my interest as does the upcoming Conan rpg from Monolith

I was wondering the other day if anyone had played this. A satisfied customer, it sounds like! Any particular likes, cautions, or tips?
