Well, we don't have too much info on the Swordmage so far, but I starting building a character for an upcoming campaign and realized I'd like to multiclass as one . . . but there's no feat for it yet.
So far we have Murtun Ironblade, the level 3 Dwarf Swordmage, leaked/previewed from a Forgotten Realms adventure for some event. This shows off some powers and features of the Swordmage that have been discussed elsewhere on these forums.
Anyway, what do you think the feat should look like? What feature of the swordmage should it imitate? I'd suppose the requirement would be Int 13, since it looks like Swordmage attacks use Int, and the skill training it would grant would probably be one from the Swordmage list. The skills in which Murtun Ironblade is trained, for reference, are Arcana, Athletics, Endurance and History.
Then the feat should probably be a per-encounter use of the Aegis of Shielding power, or a daily use of the Swordmage Warding feature for the duration of the encounter (or maybe a per-encounter use that lasts for 1 round).
For reference, the Swordmage Warding feature grants the character's Intelligence bonus to AC for as long as the character keeps one hand free. If the character is rendered unconscious, the shield fades and can be restored after a short rest. (It wouldn't be able to be restored for the multiclass version, most likely.) Here is the Aegis of Shielding power:
Aegis of Shielding
Swordmage Feature
You create an arcane link between you and a foe, allowing you to instantly
respond to its attacks with a counterassault.
At-Will ✦ Arcane, Teleportation
Minor Action | Close burst 2
Target: One creature in burst
Effect: You mark the target. The target remains marked until you use
this power against another target. If you mark other creatures using
other powers, the target is still marked. A creature can be subject to
only one mark at a time. A new mark supersedes a mark that was
already in place.
If your marked target makes an attack that doesn’t include you
as a target, it takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls. If that attack hits and
the attacker is within 10 squares of you, you can use an immediate
interrupt to reduce the damage dealt by that attack to any one
creature by 9 points.
I'm not sure where the 9 point damage reduction comes from. It happens to be Murtun's Arcana bonus, and also three times his Intelligence modifier.
Anyway, what do you think the multiclass feat should look like . . . at least until we get the real version?
