SWRPG - Basic knowledge for players

If your players only Star Wars reference is the movies, try to remember what happened in the movies. There wasn't much information gathering (holonet surfing, slicing, etc.)
Actually, there was a lot of information gathering, just that the electronic gathering was normally, but not always, done by R2-D2. Obi-Wan tried to do electronic information gathering at the Jedi Archives in Attack of the Clones with the Saberdart and Kamino but got nowhere with it and had to get the information elsewhere. Han searches through the navicomputer in Empire Strikes Back to search for a place to run from the Empire also. Luke had to look up Dagobah in his navicomputer and find coordinates to an incredibly obscure system (that or in old d6 Star Wars, the Instinctive Astrogation force power let him just know the way instinctively).

In terms of more general information gathering, Anakin does a lot of information gathering (as in the Gather Information skill) to find the sandpeople holding his mother, also Luke was trying to find out who R2 was talking about when he was asking about Obi-Wan early on in Episode IV, but the plot kind of brought Obi-Wan to him.

I'd forgotten about those. Not much for blogs meself, which is probably why.

Yeah, I'm usually not much for blogs either, but I stumbled on those a while back when I was thinking about starting a SW campaign. Plus, if you can't tell someone to kiss your wookie, it is no fun at all!
