I figured. Unfortunately, it doesn't talk about how to calculate CL, unless I'm just missing it entirely.

Ergo, where does the CL calculation above come from?

Well, I guess I'm a blithering idiot, then. I've read the page over a couple of times now and I don't see any reference to figuring out an individual creature's CL, or any 3:1 nonheroic:CL ratio. Would someone be kind enough to quote me the passage?

I'm with Buzz on this one. I see the "nonheroics = 1/3 CL" formula bandied about a lot, but I have yet to find a specific reference to that in the SWSE text. Page 247 is all about gaging encounter difficulty (and is mostly useless to that end, I gotta say). Determining the CL of a scratch-built character doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere.
