Symbionts and such

Hiya, first thread here. Anyways, I was looking at Eberron for the first time and noticed something awesome. Symbionts. There is hardly anything about them on the net but they are basically magical items you dont need slots for and are great utility gadgets. For example, you are blinded. Your symbiont can probably still see and can communicate telepathically and presumably give you a mental picture of whats going on. Most also give free darkvision and some of their buffs are just ridiculous.
For example: Shadow sibling gives you 50% miss chance as an immeadiate action as many times as your CON bonus. Potentially life-saving for frontliners.

Most symbionts also have ridiculous hide bonuses at low levels and combined with their dakvision, are better scouts than PCs.
For lols, you can even use them for diversions since diminuitive size makes em near untouchable at low levels and some can fly or go incorporeal.

So, let's talk about how awesome they are, see how many uses you can get outta these little guys and if you want make up your own.

Also, assuming I can only have 1, which one would be best for a gish?

Check out the Fiend Folio, has plenty of Symbionts as well as a variety of Grafts. We've incorporated symbionts occasionally before, I'm a fan of the Psionic Sinew if you need to pick only one.

Perks: The Psionic Sinew has a low Ego score of 6. Since you need to do a will check to see if the symbiont is going to mess with your head or not, most players can beat this in a few levels. Since it's Lawful Evil, any hero is bound to come in conflict with the creature often, so this is important to overcome.

+4 Strength. +4 AC. 60' Blindsight. These are all constant.

Not so great abilities, but you choose to use/not use them:

-1/hour, 3 temporary hitpoints for a 1 point of dex damage. Not very useful.

-Claw of the bear ability, gain a 1d12 natural attack that lasts for 3 hours, for 1 point of Dex damage.
