synDCon 2010 - MD, DC, VA
Good day, some of you might remember some of my earlier posts when we were organizing the various D&D Worldwide Gamedays in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC areas. Each of our events has grown in size and with that we are pleased to announce the upcoming events for our local convention synDCon 2010.
We have a lot of events on the calendar and we'll have availability for a lot of open gaming. In addition, some of our events will directly support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
These will be four days of gaming, for gamers by gamers.
Due to great player demand and the announcement of some new exciting developments (see below) we've decided to extend our preregistration pricing until February 8th.
We've just confirmed the news that Green Ronin's Hal Mangold will be running demo games of their greatly anticipated RPG Dragon Age.
BTW, if you haven't looked at our events yet, there is much you might be missing. Did you know that we'll have demos of Eclipse Phase? How about a game of Call of Cthulhu Delta Green?
Among our events we'll be running over 30 different Living Forgotten Realms adventures from heroic all the way to paragon tier, including some adaptables. Matt James, freelance designer and co-author of Monument of the Ancients, has been feverishly working with Erik Nowak & David Phillips on a synDCon exclusive D&D 4e Paragon Level mini-campaign called "The Palace of the Frozen Skulls", which will premiere at synDCon 2010.
We'll be running well over 20 Legend of the Five Rings: Heroes of Rokugan (L5R) adventures, including an appearance and seminar by Rob Hobart to discuss the future of L5R.
We'll have over 10 Pathfinder Society adventures spanning all levels.
Steve Jackson Games' Men in Black will be hosting the Munchkin Regional Tournament.
Lee Garvin, author of Tales from the Floating Vagabond, will be running a game for that long out of print system. In addition, his d20 game The Noble Wild has been recently updated to use the Pathfinder system. Lee will be running a Kids Track adventure using his updated system.
Seminars by Dave Chalker, Geek's Dream Girl, Matt James & Erik Nowak, Sandy Antunes and others.
We'll have social LARP games using Camarilla rules for Vampire: the Requiem, Changeling: the Lost, Geist: the Sin-Eaters, and Werewolf: the Forsaken.
For the miniatures gaming crowd we'll be hosting a Warhammer 40K 5th Edition tournament. In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war.
With prize support directly from Games Workshop to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, bring your 1750 point army for this head-to-head tournament competition. Fifty players can participate in this competition with the following scoring criteria: Battle Points (50%), Sportsmanship (30%), Painting (10%) & Player's Army Selection (10%). Each round of the tournament will use a different scenario that will test your army's flexibility and tactical capabilities, build your army with that in mind. To ensure a good match up for players of all skill levels, the tournament will be scored using the Swiss system. Sponsored by the Frederick All Inclusive League Gamers, and run by their excellent judges, this tournament will provide an excellent weekend of Warhammer 40k battles.
Mind Storm Labs will be running some games of their ENNIE Nominated Post-Apocalyptic Role Playing Game, Alpha Omega.
Valentine's day events by Geek's Dream Girl.
E. Foley (Geek's Dream Girl) brings her expertise in dating matters to the forefront. The Dating Doctor events allow you to have a one-on-one advice session to improve your dating opportunities. The 15 minute quick consults help to get your dating life on track. She can give pointers on your on-line profile, advice on what to write to people that interest you, or even help solve that pesky problem you've been having with your significant other.
E. will also host speed dating sessions. Are you looking for a fun way to meet other singles without the agony of the bar scene, personal ads, or unsuccessful blind dates set up for you by your well-intentioned friends? Speed dating is the perfect way for you to have one-on-one "mini-dates" with singles of the opposite sex in one evening.
Our preregistration prices will be in effect until February 8th. To take advantage of those go and register at our Consupport Site - synDCon. Select one of the registration packages. Then go to the event summary page and select every event you'd like to register for and add them to your cart.
synDCon 2010 will be held from 12-15 February at the Rockville Hilton Hotel and Executive Business Center, 1750 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland, United States 20852-1699. The hotel is steps away from the entrance to the Twinbrook Metro station (Red Line), which links the facility to downtown Washington in 15 minutes. The hotel is also just a few minutes from I-495 (the Washington Beltway) and I-270, with a wide variety of restaurants and shopping along the way, including White Flint Mall.
To make hotel reservations please contact the hotel directly and request the synDCon pricing.
Since this event is happening over the Valentine's weekend we'll have some events highlighting that holiday, and the hotel will be hosting a dinner at their restaurant for the event. Check with the hotel for reservations.
Thanks to all, and I hope to see many of you at our games.
