T13K + Neverwinter Nights = Potential Coolness

I seem to be reasonably blessed with the talent of being able to have the patience to create custom items, custom NPC's and monsters, as well as decent maps. Alas my main problem lies in scripting. Then Bioware came out with the plot wizard, I've purchased a tutorial for it and believe with a little tweaking I can make that do at least most of the work for me. However there are things I need to know of scripting. For example: in the adventure your character is more or less on the run. He eventually discover's that a local noble is up to some nasty stuff, however the authorities cannot do anything until three pieces of evidence is found. The best time to snag one or two of the three pieces is during a party the noble is throwing. However only nobles are invited. So your character needs to dress up as a noble or else get kicked out. This situation occurs once elsewhere in the module and I'm told it's a relatively simple script and a guy was supposed to get back with me with help on it but never did. Regardless I figure if I keep crawling back to the scripting guild for assistance I'll eventually learn something. But that's me and that will take quite some time.

Have any of you played the Temple of Elemental Evil? I did and wow... it is as close to 3.5 D&D as is possible. It's light years ahead of Neverwinter nights. And it's turn based! 5' steps and the whole deal...

It's as close to what I dreamed of through the 80s and 90s in a computer D&D game.

Light years ahead as far as rules go, but certainly not in quality. I was dissapointed when I learned that the same people who made Arcanum made Temple. It was put on the shelves months ahead of schedule, never a good thing in the electronic gaming media, and it shows. The voice acting is sad, it feels as though they left out numerous bits and pieces, and ultimately feels like they were going for a long jump but just didn't put their heart into it. The game is beautiful, and the fact it hits the rules to a T (even if I do not agree with some of the changes) the game leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Neverwinter Nights has it's own faults, and plenty of them, however it is far more flexible, and the graphics are just as lovely if not moreso in their own right, and even in the main campaign the voice acting isn't bad not the greatest of course, but not the best. The VA in Arcanum was amazing and the story and plot were great, granted ToEE is meant to be a dungeon crawl... Anyway, sorry, shouldn't be reviewing a game, and despite my pessimism I enjoy the game immensly. Just have me a bias favoring Neverwinter Nights. :p

Ren, I'll be happy to help with Items and map creation. I know nothing about the scripting, but I put a few basic areas together. I even created a few custom items. Let me know what help I can be.

Hmmm, custom items. Let's see, what sort of new equipment is in T13K? Or what sort of nifty new magical items and the like. If you can make some of those perhaps when my internet get's better I can work something out with getting the file transfered via AIM or Yahoo or some such messaging service. As for maps, I'm at tad proud of my map making skills, but one never knows when one might need some random spontaneous village or dungeon. So perhaps play around and I can take a look at what you have.
