Well the demo of the unit is out.
It is a nice concept but from the video you can see that they still have a way to go.
First as of right now it only works on the first gen iphone and it must be jail broken.
They really need to get this working on all Iphones, Itouches and Ipads.
It needs to be able to be shown in portrait as well as landscape.
Right now all the unit seems to be is an enlarged LCD and Digitzer.
It does proves that the iphone screen can be projected on another screen.

This is what alot of people had hoped the VGA adapter that Apple sells was going to do, but doesn't.
It has potental but still needs some tweeking.
Keep up the good work guys. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

As far as I know, it only works with an iPhone 4 because that has a processor quick enough to handle the app.

Curious how much it will cost, a 57" TV already costs ~€8000, and that's without a touch interface or iPhone connection. If it tops €11.000 it is going to be more expensive then the Microsoft Surface table and might seriously hamper the amount of units they will sell. The positive: It isn't as deep, thus could easily be used as a table, uses the iOS software (thus you can use iPhone apps without modification) and is a far larger surface (58"vs. 30"). Limited resolution (960x640 vs 1024x768), not as much interaction possibilities as Surface (recognizes opjects placed on the table).

Wouldn't so (relatively) few pixels blown up to such a large size look pretty terrible? Try zooming 12x or 16x on any iPhone screenshot to get an idea.

If this is real, (though the people at Wired are sure its fake and now I have my doubts too) its usefulness would depnd on the apps on it. For example google maps would be great on it. If you had blue prints in a pic you could zoom them.
The ice hocky game app is another great one. zooming maps to a playable size etc.

The surface would be a better unit as it is running off of a true computer. but i have seen multitouch tables that ran off of an Apple mini. The surface runs a different type of multitouch tech then an Ipad, Itouch, or Iphone does.

but if they found a way to truely mirror the main screen that is what is unique.
the vga adapter that apple sells doesn't do this but itunes does when you sync it.
Now the screen going dark is not unexpected to me. Some apps that use the vga out do the same thing.
As the iphone is jailbroken it is still possable that this is real.

Now if it is fake as it is beleived to be, they most likely just took a regular iphone and connected a larger multitouch screen to it and hid the phone inside the table.

Let's say they use the iPhone 4 resolution of 960x640 then you'll get pixels of ~1.2mm, those are big. But if you've ever seen a large plasma screen, those pixels are huge up close, but at a distance it still looks awesome. The question is if this is also true at arms length.

The current video might very well be a mock up (aka. fake), they even said something along those lines on the blog. Might be for acquiring investors, mockups are used for that all the time.
