I have come to the very unpopular conclusion that no snacks is best for gaming
It is an unpopular opinion, but I can certainly see the merit behind it. I don't like dealing with greasy chip fingers while I'm playing... And it can also be disruptive when players are getting up from the table to go back for seconds or whatever.

We also do finger foods at our games though. It's hard to divorce game night and game night snacks.

We also aren't the healthiest lot. Seen my share of health problems among friends in the hobby and lost our GM to a heart attack at an early age

Google translates this to pork cracklings. Homemade are best, but those are usually available around November when we have traditional pig slaughter (also, google translate, we have specific word for that). Cold cuts are also good for for snacks. Some prosciutto, some homemade smoked sausages, a bit of hard cheese (cow, goat, sheep, we do mix). Sessional fruits are also on the menu for table snacks (i have figs, sour cherry, tangerines, grapes in garden at grandmas house, my friend has walnuts and grapes at his weekend house, other one has blueberries, strawberries and raspberries ).
