Tacos

However... according to the always authoritative Wikpedia (*ahem*), hard shells were first mentioned in a cookbook in Santa Fe in 1949. Not sure why they took off, though, since it seems they'd be harder to keep intact during shipping and handling..?

It's because they last longer. Tortillas have a tendency to become moldy or stale after a week or two.

Ok, too many things to quote and respond to.

RE: OP
Tacos are awesome!

RE: Danny's meatless tacos
I wonder how it'd work with Falafel? Mmmm...Falafel...

RE: Taco Bell
My favorite fast food restaurant, the food quality seems fine to me. It makes me genuinely sad when I move somewhere with no Taco Bell located nearby.

RE: Hard shells
They're an abomination, I can't believe some actually prefer those! Also, the taco dinner kits sold in stores with soft tortillas seem to last months, maybe back in the 50s they couldn't keep them fresh for more than a few weeks, but times have clearly changed...

Mmm. Every Friday, the company I work for provides a catered lunch for all the employees. Today - Greek! That means gyros, which are basically Greek tacos, and yumminess will commence!

My wife reminded me of these when we were discussing that you can put anything in a taco:

Also made of awesome, but technically not a taco at all :)

I have a friend whose black Lab Choco dissapeared recently- could that be why?!?!

(And if so, would it be restored to real taco status?)

Sure, Tacos are fine, but what about THACOs.

Please, don't make me have to move this back to General discussion :p

They're tasty and mechanically unintuitive.

So, like "deconstructed borscht" in a high-end, high-priced, gourmet restaurant? Served with four of it's components frozen in liquid nitrogen, with a special utensil that looks like a fork/straw (a "stork"?) built for a Pierson's Puppeteer?
