Take a look at this Avenger and..

10 Base
+2 Leather
+2 Enhancement
+5 20 INT
+3 Armor of Faith
+1 Improved Armor of Faith
+4 1/2 level (8)
+1 Defensive (double weapon)
+1 Two-weapon defense
29 AC

Of course.. this will only be 25 without the magic leather (per errata). Still not bad. Might be 27 if you give him +2 cloth..

I have read mixed reviews on Executioner's Axe vs Fullblade as it relates to the Avenger (plus, I already got a fig with a sword, haha), but I will give it some more thought. I agree that the extra +1 to hit seems less meaninful when you're rolling two dice every time and, as you say, the Brutal 2 is hard to beat.

The oath that's associated with Dexterity, I think.

The damage between the Executioner's Axe and the Fullblade is nearly identical. Fullblade gets a tiny edge if you have other effects besides damage from your attacks. IMO, matching the fig is the deciding factor. ;)

What do you mean by that last bit there?

I was addressing this:

So, eh, this basically means that the guy gets AC 16 then.. not 18. I looked at Improved Armor of Faith briefly b/f just getting leather.. I figured +2 all the time was better than whatever bonus I temporarily got from AofF - wasn't that just a bonus when charging or something?

to Chainsaw:

As far as "down the line" planning, what deity have you decided to go with? While not necessarily the first consideration, it'll be worth checking out to what divinity and domain feats this choice gives you access.

It means exactly what it says.

Charging doesn't affect Armor of Faith.

I thought it was obvious.

LOL

Okay, seriously tho, Fullblade has a couple advantages over E-Axe. +1 to hit, as you mentioned, allows special effects to happen more often.

As well, HBO is available to you, and Deadly Axe is not usable with an E-Axe.

However, if you use throwing axes as a back-up weapon, E-Axe becomes a better option by allowing you to consolidate your feat options.

So... looking at this, you're not a Goliath (where a martial option is better) and you're not a dwarf, so I'd say go with the Fullblade.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and comments. Played with the guy last night. Went fine. Had two defenders (Warden, Fighter), two strikers (Avenger, Barbarian), a wizard and a cleric. Pretty balanced. Didn't even take any damage.

Totally irrelevant, but my guy's background is that he's a 63-year old prison guard who felt a calling to spend the last years of his life slaying the undead. Given his 16 dexterity, I suppose he's unnaturally agile and dexterous for a 63 year old, but what the heck, it makes for a funny scene when an old man's doing acrobatics through the battlefield.

Maybe I am asking stupid questions because I don't have my books in front of me (and I am not familiar with the Avenger or Armor of Faith), but... Why would Charging affect Armor of Faith? It seems like an out of place statement to make. Kind of like stating "Swimming doesn't affect Armor of Faith" or "Using the Diplomacy skill doesn't affect Armor of Faith". Yeah? And the point you are trying to make is???

Again, maybe I am missing something. Why would charging vs AoF even come up as an issue or question?

His point was that the bonus wasn't all to conditional. Some people see the 'You get a +3 when' and blank out, without realizing it's +3 when you do nothing.
