Taking suggestions for Dungeons of Doom

Three dimensional maps. My brain is not wired right to picture things in 3-D. You know, caverns with ledges, huge mushrooms as houses, stalagtites/mites that are connectd, even just big rocks to hide behind or be on. Most maps are very 2-D, when caves/caverns are very 3-D.

For "made" dungeons, I'm fond of non-square rooms and hallways. How many civilizations could really carve all that out in straight lines. Heck, some city's roads aren't straight even when built today! How about a dungeon that was obviously hard to build that has non-straight; less than perfect rooms/dimensions.

What about mines (ore carts, tracks, and all?) - that would be cool. Also, a section of mines where dwarves would work - crystals and minerals in the walls, etc.. Just some more idears. :P

FYI, we did an entire book about an elven tree village. It's called Corwyl: Village of the Wood Elves and it came out in March.

Yup, I remember. Can't have too many generic tree villages though! :)

I'd like to see maps which you can show to your players. In other words, I'd love a "DM" version and a "Player" version.

It seems a shame to have wonderful looking maps which only the DM can enjoy.

I'd just like to see lots of maps that create interesting environements for combats. Fighting bad guys in a big square room gets old, so I like to change it up a bit- things like fighting in that room with the chasm and rope bridge you mentioned above. I want rooms where people have to use their balance, jump, climb, etc. skills mid-combat.

Ooh - I like this idea!

I'll second the call for ledges in the caverns, nothing better than putting a digester or destrachan up on a ledge while the PCs are busy fighting its brothers down below. :)

There's got to be a bridge over a chasm, this happens way too often.

A cavern with a lake or pool in it, perhaps one in the center and one along a wall. They don't have to be huge, but large enough for a couple of monsters to ambush from.

I'd like a steam cavern as well, nothing like some monsters in a room with concealment and the ever-present danger of scalding steam vents.

Ok, then. Here goes:

1). a waterfall
2). a crystal forest
3). a giant mushroom forest
4). an underground outpost (the guards gotta rest somewhere!)
5). an old battle sight (skeletons, old armor and shields)
6). a kobold deathtrap (call me for more info Ed.) :)
7). free-form statues you can place in rooms
8). free-form columns that have collapsed (large rubble)
9). Yogurt! A pool of hot steaming yogurt!
10). free-form water sources (boiling springs, fresh drinking pools)
