Is there any more Talent Trees besides the ones in the core book and the Hacker TT in this months Poly ?

I was putting togather a starting occupation called "Homeless" with Weath=+0 , reputation= +0 but pick 2 feats from Brawl, Stealthy, Dodge and Low profile , balanced

The d20 Modern Player's Companions from Game Mechanics have new talent trees.

Here's an idea for a Fast Hero talent: +1 to ranged attacks. Stackable, and you can take it up to three times.

Maybe a penalty on starting wealth?

My upcoming d20 Modern version of Vigilance has 9 advanced classes, with three talent trees for each one- surely something to borrow from there :)

But the talent trees are associated with Basic classes normally ?

Normally, talent trees are part of basic classes, at least that's how things have been up to now... I see no reason that an advanced class couldn't have the choices that talent trees represent.

Regarding the homeless "occupation" it might be more appropriate to give them a wealth bonus of -2 rather than +0. Standard starting wealth is computed as 2d4 + occupation + feats. If the homeless has a +0, that means that every homeless person has a minimum wealth of +2 and could therefore eat three meals a day of fast food without problem.

Especially if you want to give away two bonus feats (I think that is too much) there needs to be a serious drawback. As it stands, even with my -2 suggestion, it is still possible to have a homeless person with a wealth of +6! +6 wealth allows a person to go to a family restaurant and see a movie without taking a hit on wealth bonus, not quite my image of a homeless person.

Who said talent trees should be limited to Basic Hero classes only? If you want to add talent trees to advanced and prestige classes, or change/add more talent trees for the Hero classes to choose from, go for it.

Heh. Unfortunately, you can do that at 0 Wealth, too, from what I recall.

Talents are the exclusive providence of the basic classes in the core rules yes.

However, there's nothing mechanically about them to indicate they MUST be that way.

In all my products to date, I have used talents with non-basic classes, and people who buy my games seem to like the way they're used.

In Blood and Fists the martial arts master grants martial arts masteries which are basically talents, in Blood and Guts, the special ops prestige classes all grant talents, and then Blood and Vigilance, my upcoming supers game.

I like the variability talents offer, allowing differentiated characters, and so do the people buying my books.

Is it what WOTC would do?

Probably not, but if I was going to do everything the WOTC way I'd take a vacation and let THEM do all the work :)

Very true. Thanks for the clarification.

I agree that it does provide a nice alternative method of diversification so we don't have to rely on feats for everything.

Cheers
