How is it working out? How are the tougher monsters doing against tougher player characters? Are the monsters "missing" from the book an issue in practice?
I mean, I pretty much use random monsters and stats, so I don't think I'm a fair judge.... But I think the balance is basically better. But I tend to fudge, but I'm fudging less.... Though it's only been a few encounters so far. Sorry I can't be more helpful

Have it. I'll probably use it's version of Divine Smite for the 2024 Paladin and I'll probably jack a few things here and there. The Mechanist, it's version of Longstrider which combines the Jump Spell into it, Hold/Greater Hold , The ToV Warlock Spell Casting taped onto the 5E 2024 version, The Spellblade and a few other.things here and there.

It always felt weird and like a new player trap, name wise, that Hold Monster works on both Monsters, Humanoids, AND Non-Humanoids, like Fey. But if you weren't familiar with it, you'd probably think it did Monsters only.

I picked up the ToV player's guide over the 2024 players handbook (not a fan of wotc and most of the art is hideous) a few days ago. I have not played 5e at all so I don't know any specific differences but I am liking what I read.

I'm not a fan of the lineages and heritages though because heritages are pretty specific background that I might need to tweak for my own setting. One of the things I do think that D&D 24 does better.

I'd agree except "monster" isn't a creature type, ya know? "Monster Manual."

Some fey, fiends, beasts, monstrosities are "monstrous" and others are more humanoid-like with weird accentuations/twists.

You can use regular races/species instead, it doesn't really change much overall

however, the broke it up like they did because honestly it makes more sense, lineages are your biological triats...who you physically are, heritages are your cultural traits...how you were raised. Backgrounds are what you did before you adventured (solider, artist, nomad, etc). The WotC race/species just combines both biological and cultural into one thing.
