Or, to put elves it. It seemed odd to me that all their advertising was admitting their obvious weakness... ;)

There are plenty races, which are pretty similar to some degree (and be it only the pointed ears, which you find in abundance... ;)).

I'd get this. Not to play Tal. But to rip off for other games.

Agreed -- it's a neat source for ideas. I have the Shooting Iron tome from a little while back, and I'd love to see something like the non-d20 Tal magic system put into d20 terms.

There is only 1st ed Talislatana (1987), all others are pale imitations. ;)

....

Though I REALLY got hooked under 3rd ed by WotC (back in 1992)

Why did I just know in the back of my mind that someone was going to go there!

I have some knowledge of Talislanta, but not much. What kind of races did it have? I seem to remember Duck-Men at one point...

I believe you're thinking of Runequest.

Talislanta has Thralls, large burly warriors with pointed ears who are tattoed with their victories and other details, as well as Saurans, Sauroids, and dozens of other races.

I'm just curious to see how close to d20 they'll stick with.

Ah. I probably was. I did a little checking out of Talislanta last night. I'll probably pick it up, but I'm going to wait until the first reviews come in.
