Talislanta d20

I just got it today, so I guess I'm not under NDA anymore. Most of the material is very portable. The only thing that may cause problems is the magic system, which is very different. Races, classes, weapons, monsters, etc. should be swappable right out of the box though.
How much setting info is in the book?

Quite a bit. Not nearly as much as the big blue book, but more than anyone got in the handbooks released for the earlier editions. I'd say that close to half the book is setting info.

I'll be picking up Tal20 later today. Back in the day I remember mining ideas from the second edition book, though prior to doing a little research last night, I wasn't even aware those old handbooks existed. Would they be superfluous if one already owned the Tal20 book?

The actual handbooks for 1st through 3rd editions would be, but supplements, such as the Chronicles, Worldbook, Sorcerer's Guide, Archaen Codex, or any of the bestiaries would all be very useful. The 4th edition book itself has a lot more detail, so would also be useful.

I noticed the Tal20 introduction makes mention that a Talislanta Menagerie, Codex Magicus, regional guides, and a (revised and annotated) Chronicles of Talislanta are in the works. The wording on this last item is a bit ambiguous; might it in fact already exist? Anyway, something to look forward to in future...

I think the new Chronicles book should be out pretty soon from the way it sounded on the ML.
