The City was one I wanted to love, but it was tremendously underpowered.

I think this goes for most of the ones that expanded the board. All of them I wanted to like, but none of them quite lived up to the promise. I didn't mind the flavor of the timescape overall, but didn't like the science fiction elements.

I don't count "the expansion" & "the adventure" since they just were added to my base set and I consider them part of the base set.

There were miniatures as I remember. Were these individually sold, or part of 3rd edition?

Heck yeah, my proudest moment was beating up a Cold Drake solo with an unadjusted Skeleton with Scimitar and Shield (The Cold Drake ran away, tail between its legs, with 1 body point left). Boo-yah!
It doesn't get much better than that. I soloed a Cold Drake with a Halfling once, but that is perhaps slightly less difficult to do.

I want to know how people saw this months ago, and apparently could have even played it. I can understand if your like Merric and have been following the Black Ind. announcements, but this game won't be available until October, with the exception of 200 copies at GenCon, plus copies like James Mishler was sent, since he does reviews for SCRYE magazine.

Thats what I want to know.

A couple months ago I went to an open day for my FLGS's main supplier. There they had folks from Top Deck (Yu-Gi-Oh), Games Workshop (Talisman and the W40K RPG) and Wizkids (Star Wars Pocket Modals) demonstrating or doing a sales pitch on their upcoming products. GW were demoing the new Talisman.

As much as I want to get this... I can't. It looks like it's exactly the same game as 2nd edition Talisman with updated graphics. I have like 3 expansions for the 2nd edition game, updated artwork is not going to get me to go back to vanilla. :-/

Perhaps it is meant more for people like me--who didn't discover this game until after it was out-of-print--than for people like you.

But I know what you mean. It's funny how I'll want to get excited about a new product that isn't really different from something I already have.

Ah! thanks. Wish they would do that around Tucson, or if they do, I heard about it somehow.

I didn't mean to be all "What's the point?" I'm glad there's an option for people who want to try the game. It's not like you can even find 3rd edition anywhere. And you certainly can't find 2nd or 1st.

I just wish there was something in there for those of us who a long time fans.

They were sold individually - I bought a complete set in London a long time ago..it must have been -92, because I went up to Oxford to celebrate the Centennial of Tolkien.

As an FYI....there is supposedly a version of Talisman being worked on for the PC/Xbox360/PS3.

Linky

There are already versions of Settlers of Catan and Carcassone on the 360 (don't know about the PS3) if you like boardgaming.

Once for a friend we did a sort of LARP version of Talisman in which she was the only player, and the rest of us took turns being the cards she would encounter. Like Talisman the board game, it took a LOOOOONG time, but she had fun. :)

And just today I played the 2nd ed board game with someone knew and she liked it so much she plans to get the 4th ed game when it comes out this fall!
