Talking while Wild Shaped?

Specifically, I want to make a Tibbit character who can talk in cat form. Tibbit's Feline Transformation ability is described as like Polymorph.

I'm toying with a Tibbit Dragonfire Adept, Scholar type, Battlefield control. I'm picturing a kitty with little glasses that studies relics and such.

I'll probibly need to go the Charm Invocation + Mindbender route.

Why not let them speak?
Some people believe that wild shape is an extremely potent ability. For those people, part of the problem is that the druid can remain in wild shape for extended periods of time. Enforcing limitations like not being able to speak while in wild shape goes a long way toward restoring the balance, if you're one of those people.

But if you don't find that druids remaining in wild shape for extended periods is any sort of problem in your game, there's probably no need to worry about it.

I don't see it as worth a feat to be able to speak while changed. Maybe a level minimum, representing experience in using altered forms, say no speech until level 7 when you use the power 3/day. But as a general rule, I so go with the folklore, not the numbers...

Folklore is the reason the Master of Many Forms can speak while shifted.
Druids are more dabblers, not really the shape changing creatures from legend like the MMF was designed around.

We've had intelligent animals or people in animal form (by whatever means) communicate by writing in the dirt.

Speaking, though? Unless the form has the right vocal structure, I'd say it can't be done normally.

Some people allow a Pearl of Speech to allow wildshaped people to speak (magic item compendium). There are other, more expensive methods too. For my TIbbit PC, I solved the problem by taking levels of Psion or Erudite. There are several low-level powers that allow you to speak, such as Create Sound or Mindlink. If you want to be able to cast those repeatedly, take Linked Power and Metapower feats. It was a lot of fun to be a tiny cat throwing out amazing psionic powers.

Pearl of Speech! Yes, by RAW, this should accomplish what I am looking for with my Tibbit. Thank you.

I'm trying to convince my friends to play an all Tibbit game, so that we can play PC's that would be less troubled by the repercussions of our actions but being random, curious, impulsive and troublemakers. I have a friend who's a fan of Psions, I could see him enjoying this.

I really want to play a Warlock or Dragonfire Adept (Fire Breathing wingged kitty FTW!) Tibbit. Minderbender dip at level 7 would still be my plan, but the Pearl of Speech is the magic item I've been hoping was out there.

i know this is an old thread, but no one mentioned the wild speech feat from ultimate magic, which among other things allows speech in wild shape form.
