Taller Halflings

So we've heard that halflings will be taller than 3-year-olds in 4e. I was surprised to see extremely little feedback about that. Is it a case of this being what everyone wanted? I suppose the threads have been more about what people don't like than what they do like.

So I want to know how many of you like the new halflings, at least in respect to their size.

As for me, I'm all for it.

I never knew anyone cared how tall they were as long as they were significantly shorter than humans.

They were too short in 3.5. I've been referring to my 2 1/2 year old as a "halfling rogue."

So long as they aren't taller than dwarves, I've got no objections.

However, if they really are making halflings a bit taller, then to me this implies that halflings may use the same size weapons and armor as humans, elves, dwarves and the like. After all, with gnomes out of the PHB that would leave halflings as the sole 'small' race in there. Why bother including an additional column listing weapon damage for small-sized characters if it only applies to one race in the PHB?

Yup. Make them Hobbit-short (as in the movies), not toddler-short!

Yes. And make them reasonably proportioned, not like tall skinny humans magically shrunk down with a shrink-o-matic ray.

I always thought that halflings the size of the 3rd ed ones deserved a bigger penalty than -2 strength, so I guess making them bigger assuages that problem a bit.
