ok, then. how about...

check out any/all of the classbooks and pick a prestige class you'd think would fun to play (with DMs permission, of course). build PC accordingly. (Fatespinner, Shifter, whatever)

play a character class or combination of classes you've never tryed (how about a dwarven ranger with aberrations as a favored enemy? he'd be an underdark avenger! no..? how about a rogue/cleric. stealing in the name of goodness! no..?)

take an unusual PC race and class combination. halfling paladin (saving the world from the back of a riding dog!), dwarven bard (songs about the finer things in life; gold and ale! storytelling and limericks galore! "there once was a girl from Suzail...")), half-orc monk (style - raw power! high strength and feats from Sword and Fist will teach this humble student the fine art of "kill 'em all and let the gods sort them out"!), gnome barbarian (short, angry and loves tall women! this contestant has it all!).

sorry, this post got away from me a little. good luck! (and HAVE FUN)

A halfling barbarian archer.

At first, used thrown items (Tanglefoot bags, throwing axes, flasks of acid).

Steadily up your str. Then, when your halfling can, get Monkey grip, and a Mighty Composit Longbow.

Basicly, rage for him is the world slows down, except for him; he becomes more focused, and concentrating on the proper strategy, the best place to shoot, the best angle (Max Pain fans will recognize Bullet time! ).

A human fighter. Talk to your DM. after about 2nd level, ask the DM to have something horrific happen to him. He go off, have a little solo adventure, and experience something horrific. His next level is Barbarian.

You see, the fighter is suffering from Post Tramatic Stress Syndrom (Ala vietnam vets). The rages are flashbacks. Something horrific coming up to him, and he has to Kill it, right then, to make the flashbacks stop; they utterly freak him out.

Violence sooths them, somewhat; but the more he adventures (hoping it'll go away), the more often they come (leveling up). Perhaps eventually put him in line for Frenzy'd Berzerker; they've gotten so harsh that He can't control himself, any more. Everyone's an enemy.

A half-orc wizard. 18 int (-2 int) +2 from Spellcasting Prodigy. 18 int for purposes of spell selection and DC. He uses his Staff like a weapon, and after running out of spells, wades into combat wielding it two handed. Considering how you're a Half-orc, you shouldn't have a half bad Str. That +1.5 str shouldn't hurt too badly with swinging the staff.

How about a professional courtier?

Basically, you work for a local baron. You are trying to work your way up to the Kingdom's Royal Court, where you will have vast prestige and influence. In order to do so, you must have prestige and influence already. So to get it, you go adventuring. By adventuring, you hope to:

1. Make a name for yourself to boost your prestige.
2. Get some gold to boost your prestige.
3. Learn about different people and places, boosting your influence.

Why would the baron let you adventure?...
1. He's getting a more effective courtier out of the deal, at least for a little while.
2. He's keeping tabs on adventurers running around in his barony.
3. Perhaps the adventure involves the baron in some manner, and you are his representative in the affair.

As far as what class to play with the above ideas? A bard would seem to be the most immediately suitable, though Fighter, Cleric, Wizard and Rogue may be workable as well. Actually, I'm working on a specific "courtier" class, but I'm afraid it won't be ready by your game day.

One of my fun concepts was a bard writing his memoirs. He always lugged this huge book around, florished any account of his life (verbally and in writing) and often tried to sell copies of his memoirs in various scholarly shops pretending they were memories of a great hero !
