Tarrasque Tips

Well, so much for my plan of awakening the monster, and then diplomacying it into being friendly.

Any other spells that could work to do the same thing?
Fox's cunning? (Int 3 --> Int 7)

It doesn't speak though, and thus presumably cannot understand any languages. Even if you can raise the Int, is there a way to teach it a language so it could be understood?

Tongues would work. Unless the DM decides to be picky about saying that tongues doesn't allow the subject to talk to a creature that doesn't speak means that a creature that doesn't speak couldn't understand languages either.

But that's stupid.

So, fox's cunning, tongues, diplomacy.

Shame there's no spell to alter a creature's alignment.

Morality undone and that one spell in the BoED that takes a year. (IIRC, neither is helpful for a generally good-aligned PC party confronted with the tarrasque.)

Real practical for this situation.

And I didn't know about Morality Undone. That might work, depending on if they can manage to learn it in time.

I think it only works on evil targets, but once you cast it, the target is encased in a gem for a year.

It would turn it evil, alas.

That's not quite what I was looking for. But I was afraid of that, what with the spell title and all. Either way, if you can get the neutral monster friendly to you, you're good to go.

Though Fox's cunning might run into problems with the SR. But I don't think SR works against items, yes? So, slip a Headband of Intellect onto the thing, and then, you can have it smart enough long enough to not go rampaging away after the buff wears off.

Even better.

Hit it with a Harpoon of Intellect. :D

Well, I dropped into the hands of the responsible player a mysterious ring that has only one ruby left out of three last session... (they killed a powerful evil guy, and it was the reward) so they've got the wish.

Now, if they came up with the tongues and diplomacizing idea (which is possible, considering the party sorcerer has fully tanked out his diplomacy skill), I would have to give them some creativity XP...

and the delayed blast fireball would be cool, except I know the sorcerer doesn't have the spell and I have no idea if he'll take it.

Either way, I'll go check out the other thread....
