Tandi's eyes went wide as Lasair began to explain the strange habits of the small folk from where she lived. Tandi found it hard to believe that these delightful folk could become that way after such a thing happening. However, she had seen stranger things in her time.

"You must be having a game with me. That tale is just too wild to believe." She took another bite of her mutton. "Right?"

"Halflin's eatin' each other, eh?" Troi asks quietly as he stares at the counter, as though willing a drink to appear in front of him. He looks over at Lasair and Tandi. "Sound's kinda creepy. All th' halflin's I've met've all been good guys, all 'round. Not a bad bunch a people in my book. But I s'pose things're dif'rent elsewhere, eh?"

"I'm sorry, I did not mean for that to be heard. Tell me if I have Zij to you, Sir Troi. It is true that this occurred, but it was far away from here, and I'm sure it does not reflect on Orussus's halflings...I hear we even had gnomes once near my homeland until the halflings ate them to extinction..."

Troi shakes his head. "I'm no sir, an' no need ta 'dress me as such. An' I still dunno what 'zich' is, er whatever - but I'm guessin' that th' answer's no." He sighs. "Far away, eh? Must notta gotten there when I wandered 'round fer awhile, 'cuz I don't recall hearin' anythin' like that."

The stories that Tandi had heard of the atrocites committed by the Orcs during the raids on her homeland hundreds of years prior nearly paled in comparison to a community of halflings, usuallyquite decent folk, from what she's seen so far, could devolve into such things. She shook her head. She did want to learn new things.

"As much as I would enjoy visiting your homeland someday, Lasair, I'm not sure it is as appealing at the moment. Perhaps much later. Much much later."

Tandi went back to finish her mead and found it had been refilled. At least some things are still the same.

"If you pardon my asking, Troi, where do you hail from?"

Lasair
"It is......not something on which I like to speak. Too many painful memories...betrayal..."

Troi's face suddenly darkens, and his gaze turns back to the counter. "Fair 'nough." He says quietly, nodding. "No need ta say anythin' else."

Tandi
"If you pardon my asking, Troi, where do you hail from?"

"Me?" He asks, looking up at her suddenly. He smiles. "Well, I 'riginally come from a little town called Lathirn, down south aways. Nasty place, though... not too nice fer growin' up in, y'know?"
