Troi perks up noticeably at the entrance of the dwarf, and even moreso when he declares his need for assistance.

"I 'member hearin' somethin' 'bout ya, Ingus. Don't need ta be in Orussus fer long ta hear mention a yer name, in our line a work." He smiles. "Name's Troi Delmontes. I've got experience dealin' wit' caravans - in fact, my last job was doin' just what yer askin'. I'm prolly not one a th' best fer the job, but I'm good wit' a whip an' I kin smell a bandit before I kin see 'im - on a good day." He smiles.

OoC for Bront: [sblock]Troi is fourth level, which might be a little high for an adventure like this. Not that he would turn down the chance to go, but it's something to take into consideration since most or all of the others in the tavern right now are 1st - so if you'd prefer to not have the headache of a higher level character involved, I'd understand ;).[/sblock]

Yet again the door opens, allowing a new patron into the inn. A young man of the human persuasion steps through, smiling broadly. He wears a coat of unusual cut and design, yet manages to appear comfortably confident without really standing out. After a long look around the room, he wipes some dust from his clothes and bald plate. (Those close to the door might hear a sighing whisper: "Ahh, it's good to be back.")

"Hello Joe, good to see your frienly face once more. Please permit us a taste of some ale to wash away the road dust." He then adresses the assembled adventurers: "A good day to you all, please allow us to introduce ourselves: Dioran Uthelem, once a tailor's apprentice, now a weaver of Arcane Powers. Perhaps our talents may be of use to someone here in Orossus."

Dioran then saunters over to the bar to receive his drink. After a long pull on the tankard, he once more turn towards the gathering, ready to strike up a conversation yet in no hurry to do so.

Adventure Hook

Ingus spends a few hours interviewing potential guards, shaking hands, even telling the occasional joke. After the pool of potential candidates is finaly finished applying, he stands up and gets everyone's attention before speaking.

"Well, thank you all for applying. I have some final preperations to do, and I'll consider you all carefully. I'll have a messanger post a list of those who i've chosen shortly. T'was a pleasure as always Joe."

Ingus saunters out of the bar, and the discussion beings among the crowd. Who was chosen? Perhaps he went somewhere else to hire people. Why didn't I get that wad of meat out of my teeth when talking to him?

However, as promised, shortly after he leaves, a gnome messanger walks into the bar and posts a note on the board that reads:

The following people have been hired in the service of Ingus Stonebender.
Sunny Perrywinkle
Lasair Alant
Elise Ellom
Fang Flemflinger
Oirhandir
Troi Delmontes
They will meet him tomorrow mourning in the town square with all their affairs in order and be ready to leave an hour after dawn. Your arival means you agree to the terms of service. You will be payed 200 gold for each leg of the journy, payment on arival, and you will stay with and guard the caravan at night when we arive for 10 gold a night.

The gnome slips out before anyone can question him.

The adventure begins here

OOC: Sorry for those who did not make the adventure, but I believe there will be another adventure recruiting shortly.

Gnomeworks, I took you figuring my adventure can probably deal with the level disparity better than some others might.

Troi takes a look at the note, then casts a sidelong glance at the orc nearly crushing the gnome messenger.

"Well, looks like we got 'til th' morrow ta get ready." Troi says, crossing his arms. "Think I'll go finish some things up 'fore we head out." With that, he heads back upstairs.

*Lasair pops her head into Elise's room.*

"Elise, do you need any help preparing spells? I don't really have anything else that I need to do, and I remember that wizards are always preparing spells, so I was wondering if you could have time to prepare some more spells if you had some help?"

Tandi watches as her new friends gain excitement at being chosen for this trip. "First to rise, first to fall," her mentors had always said. Tandi was happy for them though. In fact, she realized, she was happy for the first time in a long time. Smiling, she leaned back in her chair, finally content to relax in such a strange place. "There's always next time," she told herself. Then she closed her eyes and wished them good luck. She knew that the adventuring life was dangerous and she hoped to see them again.
